Pumpjack Diner bought

The former Pumpjack Diner in the downtown area has been purchased by Wichitan Mike Shallenberger.

Shallenberger purchased the property from Ninth and Broad LLC. The sale price was not disclosed.

Shallenberger said Friday he hopes to announce plans for the property sometime next week.

The Pumpjack Diner, a 1950s-style eatery, opened at the corner of Ninth and Broad in May 2005. The restaurant closed down in November 2006.

Shallenberger also heads up MMP Investments LLP, which owns the McBride’s Steakhouse and the Pioneer restaurants at Maplewood and Southwest Parkway.

The Pumpjack Diner sale was handled by the Ann and Denny Bishop Realtor Group with Ashton Gustafson involved in the negotiations.

Shallenberger went to school in Burkburnett and graduated from Midwestern State University. He is a retired special agent with the FBI.
